Hygrophila corymbosa has long, narrow pointy leaves which are an average of 3 to 5 inches. If left grown, the height of the plant can reach up to 24 inches. The leaves are bright green to dark green and quite dense if the plant is kept in proper conditions. Giant Hygro is fast growing, so this plant can be used as a cycling plant as it does great taking in extra nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia.
Giant Hygro is very popular in Dutch aquaria for their full appearance and in cichlid tanks for their ability to adapt to a broad range of water parameters.
Many plants if kept under strong light the leaves will take on a red or pinkish hue. See pictures to the left.
NOTE: When planting this plant it is advised to plant each stem separate so light can get to the bottom of each stem.

Stem plants are usually cuttings of plants that normally don't come with roots. This is how stem plants are sold in the aquatic plant industry although many times my stem plants may come with roots because I have been growing them out. All stem plants come with a plant weight that holds the plant in place and is safe for your tank.
To plant just let the weight lay on your substrate and the stems will grow roots throughout your substrate. You can also plant the tips, about 1/4" in your substrate if you prefer.
